I am not a big fan viewing a movie on my mobile phone. But Yesterday,i saw one and guess what,it was not bad !
As of late,i have seen this trend building among the people,with multimedia handsets and a gprs connection,probably unlimited data transfer plan,they tend to be a LEECH (a person who downloads too much).
First time i saw a complete “movie FOR MOBILE PHONE” on internet was about two years ago,in a forum,quite popular for mobile phones.I was quite staggered by the huge size of it ( about 100mb) and i thought i would never be able to download it.(i was using my mobile phone to download files at that time,and i still use it).
As the idea started to become popular, specialized forum topics were built to share movies for mobile and as of late, few dedicated websites especially built to share movies converted in mobile formats are available. prominent amongst are moviesmobile.net and its forum. Especially its forum has a large quantity of mobile media resources.
I myself,have been collecting some movies for mobile since sometime and stats show that people really like to download them.

The most popular formats in which perple watch movies on their mobile phone are avi format (for smartmovie and divx player) and 3gp format (for real player)
I thought to carry out a roll survey to find out how many people using mobiles like to download the movies ? As of stats, nearly 5000 people visit www.dotjar.org everyday, and this roll is running since october (3 months till now). There has been about 730 votes made till i write this post. Thats a fair amount of votes to draw conclusions but i plan to carry it forward for one more month.
stats clearly show that more than 3/4 of people like to download movies on their mobile phone and more than 50% of them like to download as avi format smartmovie. Here is the poll, and if you have not already casted your vote, do it right now !!
